How we helped an IT giant expand its message across global markets.
Microsoft wanted to expand its global reach and provide its English manuals in different languages. They partnered with White Globe, a leading localization company, to help them achieve this goal.
WG started the project by receiving the English source files in PDF format from Microsoft. WG assigned a dedicated project manager to coordinate with Microsoft and provide status updates throughout the project.
After the preliminary analysis, WG uploaded the files for production using their proven 12D process, which integrates all steps into their TMS project system. WG’s engineers worked on converting the PDF files into editable formats and preparing the terminology for approval from Microsoft. The approved terminology was then imported as a glossary by WG into their internal system.
The WG engineering and QA teams worked on pre-translation prep work and fixed the set of rules for localization based on cultural and market standards. They also provided specific guidelines to linguists who had domain expertise with more than 10 years of experience. The linguists ensured that the content was localized in a linguistically and culturally appropriate way, considering vocabulary, grammar, punctuation, style, and speech level to reflect the target audience’s culture and society.
Throughout the localization process, WG shared daily status updates with Microsoft and followed proofreading, reviewing, editing, and QC steps after localization completion. WG then extracted the localized files in bilingual format and shared them with the Microsoft team.
Finally, WG’s linguists proofread the final formatted document after DTP work and finalized it. WG then shared the final, ready-to-print manual in Ai and PDF formats with Microsoft for review and feedback.
Thanks to WG’s expertise, dedication, and proven process, Microsoft was able to successfully localize their English manuals into different languages and expand their global reach. Microsoft was impressed with WG’s attention to detail, cultural sensitivity, and linguistic accuracy, which made the localization process a smooth and successful one.
